The ruling party of Georgia advocates the abolition of visas by Russia for citizens of Georgia, and also proposes to resume direct flights.
This was stated by the mayor of Tbilisi and the general secretary of the “Georgian Dream” Kakha Kaladze, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to “Georgia News”.
“It was all done unilaterally, sanctions were imposed against our country and people. It’s up to them. If they make such a decision, we welcome at least direct flights and at least a visa-free regime for our citizens,” he said.
It is worth noting that recently the head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Leonid Kalashnikov, said that Russia and Georgia are considering the possibility of resuming air traffic, and the Russian Federation may even cancel visas.
“I must say that we are on the verge of these decisions,” he said.
Earlier, the Georgian government has already announced its intention to resume flights with Russia. However, President Salome Zurabishvili opposed it.
We also recall that in early March in Georgia , protests against the law on “foreign agents” continued for several days in a row , which were accompanied by clashes with the police.
After lengthy rallies, the ruling Georgian Dream party nevertheless rejected the scandalous bill on “foreign agents” in parliament.
