JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Three people have died and two others were injured after a chase in Jackson early Wednesday morning.
Jackson police said four suspects fled from officers in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, which had been reported as stolen. According to investigators, the suspects crashed into a 2012 Ram 1500 pickup truck, and the chase ended at the corner of Highway 80 and University Boulevard.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), three passengers in the Hyundai died at the scene. MHP identified the victims as 30-year-old Donte Ingram, of Jackson; 25-year-old Jaylon Black, of Jackson; and 18-year-old Jamiah T. Smith, of Canton.
Troopers said both drivers were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) with unknown injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was identified as 28-year-old James J. Stevenson, of Clinton.
Police said they found various narcotics and weapons inside the suspects’ vehicle, as well as evidence of them burglarizing other vehicles.
This crash remains under investigation by MHP and the Jackson Police Department.
