Attorneys hired by Jay-Z and other entertainers have ended two lawsuits they filed on behalf of Mississippi inmates in 2020 over what they said were squalid living conditions at the state’s oldest prison — a facility that came under Justice Department scrutiny after outbursts of deadly violence by inmates. India has taken a step toward allowing leading foreign universities such as Yale, Oxford and Stanford to set up campuses and award degrees as part of an overhaul of the South Asian nation’s higher education. Regulator the University Grants Commission on Thursday unveiled a draft legislation for public feedback that seeks to facilitate entry and operation of overseas institutions in the country for the first time. PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) – A 16-year-old from Clinton has been charged as an adult after a teen had to be airlifted following a shooting in Pearl last week. Markinan Demon Walker, 16, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of drive-by shooting. Walker was ordered held without bond and is at the Rankin County Detention Center. Walker is accused of shooting at two people that were standing on S. Sweet Home Church Road on Thursday, December 29. The shooting is believed to be drug-related.
